Durbanville Golf Club

The Jewel of the North! - http://www.durbanvillegolf.co.za

This course, situated in Cape Town’s northern suburbs, has in recent years made considerable improvements to its original layout.
A long-term and successful upgrading plan by a vibrant committee is now showing results to what is becoming a fine golf venue.

The course has always enjoyed a reputation of being less demanding than the other Cape courses. Open spaces and a flat terrain allow a degree of error that will not be penalised too severely.

The golf course nowadays has excellent fairways and good-putting surfaces, while manicuring and the introduction of newly shaped greens have served to enhance the club’s reputation.

The clubhouse and surrounds have had a facelift and a campaign to welcome visiting golfers has achieved the goal of offering a warm, friendly welcome to complement a pleasant golf outing.

Please be assured that there are some testing shots required despite the space, especially over the dam in the middle of the course.

Try this Fantastic New Tour - Northern Splendor

Alatus Tours - http://alatustours.co.za/

We cannot take credit for the beauty of our natural surroundings. They were here long before us, but we can make sure that you take full advantage of the views. Unwind in style, sit back, relax and make yourself at home in our spacious luxury vehicle, the epitome of luxury traveling.

Alatus Tours has put together a tour of the highlights of this most splendid of areas. We start our journey by visiting two of Durbanville's national heritage sites, The old Dutch Reformed Church of Durbanville and the Rust en Vrede Cape Dutch complex, which boasts a selection of South African Art and historical ceramics.

Next on our journey is Diemersdal Wine Estate which is surrounded by old historical buildings. Enjoy the wines, views and a delectable cheese board.
Then onto Meerendal Wine Estate, just off of the beautiful Vissershok road. This estate is home to some of the oldest of a proudly South African cultivar, Pinotage, which was planted here in 1955.

From here we set off on a journey through some amazing scenery to the Cape Town Ostrich Ranch where, accompanied by informative guides, we explore the incredible world of these large flightless birds. Have your photo taken on the back of an Ostrich with the stunning view of Table Mountain in the background.

After we have enjoyed a cup of tea we make our way to the Tygerberg Nature Reserve which boasts an amazing array of Renosterveld (a very rare and endangered eco-system), not to mention one of the most stunning views in Cape Town. We indulge in a sumptuous picnic lunch whilst taking in the sights before us.

The last leg of our journey is to Nitida, world renowned for their sophisticated and complex wines. One of the estate's professional wine makers is on hand to explain their wines.

Our last wine estate, De Grendel, is situated on the slopes of Tygerberg. This top wine estate started as a stud horse farm progressing from here to cattle and goat farming, to its more recent development of creating wines. After our tasting and taking in the views, we make our way home to your place of rest.

Includes:
• Pick up from your place of residence
• All tasting and entrance fees
• Tea or coffee at “Rust en Vrede” and the “West Coast Ostrich Farm”
• Lunch including soft drinks, waters, house wines/beers
• Onboard refreshments

Butterfly World

http://www.butterflyworld.co.za/

Butterfly World, one of the more unique attractions of the Western Cape Winelands, consists of a tropical garden in a 1000 m2 green house. This luxuriant paradise makes the free flying exotic butterflies feel right at home.

The butterfly park is located at the cross roads of the Paarl, Stellenbosch and Wellington Wine Routes, near the small Boland town of Klapmuts. Just off the N1 at Exit 47, on the Route 44 (300m to the south), it is very accessible to the many tourists visiting the area.

Tropical butterflies are raised on breeding farms in countries such as Costa Rica, Philippines, Malaysia and China. Pupae are flown to display parks where the butterflies emerge into their tropical gardens.
